Revolutionizing the Notebook Computer Industry with a Blend of Tradition and Modernity

The ThinkPad E Series, designed by the Experience Design Group, is a notebook computer that marries the traditional ThinkPad DNA with a modern, simplistic design. This award-winning design is not only aesthetically appealing but also packed with features that enhance productivity and user experience.

The ThinkPad E series was inspired by the need to retain the essence of the ThinkPad while introducing a modern and simplistic look. The design team focused on simplifying traditional elements and elevating appeal through a deep focus on color, material, and finish (CMF) strategy. The result is a compact notebook computer with up-to-date features that make it a leader in its category.

What sets the ThinkPad E series apart from other notebook computers is its ruggedness, durability, and quality. It has undergone robust testing to meet military specifications, including pressure, temperature, humidity, vibration, and dust tests. The laptop features a full-sized, spill-resistant, legendary ThinkPad ergonomic keyboard with a numeric keypad, renowned for its full array of keys, excellent feel, and TrackPoint® pointing device. It also has a large TrackPad with buttons that can be configured in multiple ways.

The ThinkPad E series is slim and lightweight, making it perfect for on-the-go use. It is powered by 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processors and can be configured with various graphics, storage, memory, and connectivity options, based on user requirements. The laptop also has additional HDMI and USB ports for easy presentation and information sharing. An optional swipe fingerprint reader and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) function ensure data security.

The design and development of the ThinkPad E series took place across multiple locations, including Beijing, Taiwan, Japan, and the United States. The project started in July 2016 and was ready for tooling by February 2017. The design team conducted both quantitative and qualitative research with loyal ThinkPad customers, professionals from different industries, corporate IT decision makers, and general consumers. This research informed the design and development phase, along with the portfolio strategy.

The biggest challenge in designing the ThinkPad E series was introducing new design elements while retaining the heritage and DNA of ThinkPad design. The design team overcame this challenge through deep collaboration and extensive research with loyal customers, fan groups, and potential customers worldwide. Their feedback and insights were incorporated into the design, resulting in a product that is both innovative and true to the ThinkPad brand.

The ThinkPad E series was awarded the Golden A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award in 2018, a testament to its innovative design and functionality. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
